Check-out California’s Distinction Gallery for Kit Lane’s exhibition!
per their website: Distinction Gallery was created in 2004 to provide artists a venue to display cutting-edge, high-quality artwork in North County San Diego. Distinction has hosted over 100 exhibitions since its inception featuring emerging, mid-career and veteran professional artists. The primary genres forwarded at Distinction are Contemporary Realism, Surrealism and Urban art with a focus on the figure. Our primary media focus is original oil and acrylic paintings; however, we occasionally display drawings, mixed media, sculpture and photography. Distinction’s artwork is available for sale online to clients around the world, and most of our artists are available for commissions. Please feel free to contact us with questions, framing options, or exhibition opportunities for our featured artists.
This morning, I put the finishing touches on our very first Traverse County Arts Council Fair exhibit. Feeling so proud of the work the members have been doing – and so pleased that we were able to share a few of our works with the public – I turned and locked the display. As I was doing so, an older gentleman stood, looking at the pieces.
Wow, how great, I thought to myself – our first admirer!
Suddenly disappointed, the man turned to me and said, “Aren’t you going to put any farm machinery in there?”
I left the building, somewhat speechless.
I relayed the story to my brother-in-law. Always full of great advice, he suggested our artistic endeavors more closely relate to our environment – watercolors of John Deere tractors. Photos and sketches of agricultural equipment. Such works could be, astutely stated by my brother-in-law, “$$$.” Perhaps we have discovered the key to artistic financial success here in Wheaton, Minnesota.
